As a leading global brand in kitchen and bath fittings, GROHE sets a high bar for their manufacturing network. When looking to expand their footprint in the Middle East Africa (MEA) region, they chose Kuehne+Nagel as a partner for change.
A Regional Distribution Center (RDC) strategically placed in Dubai
- Extensive support for GROHE’s expansion in the MEA region
- Facility powered by renewable electricity
- Reduction of lead times for end-consumer
The advantage of Dubai as a strategic location
The larger a business and its customer base become, the more challenging it is to manage a complex supply chain. Materials and finished products may need to move between multiple locations and storage facilities before they reach consumers. For this reason a disruption at any point in the process should be avoided in any case.
With its new Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) in Dubai, GROHE is one of the few brands based in the region. The strategically positioned facility shortens lead times between Europe and Asia as well as to end consumers. The location also supports inventory builds for new product launches.
As a trusted advisor, Kuehne+Nagel’s logistics professionals worked closely with GROHE from the start of the project. With a strong local relationship and engagement from our senior management, we demonstrated a “can do” attitude for GROHE’s success.
Using a consultancy approach, we provided insight into the advantages of operating within the free trade zone area as well as comprehensive end-to-end solution design. Our dedicated team of logistics professionals ensured full visibility throughout the supply chain process together with a zero-failure implementation plan.
This sustainable smart warehouse in Dubai Logistics City is served by green electricity, generated by its own solar panels. Lee I’Ons, Regional Manager, Middle East and Africa, Kuehne+Nagel, offered his take on the facility: “We are committed to reaching ambitious goals to reduce our carbon footprint, embrace renewable energy, and support partners and customers with sustainable logistics solutions. This new warehouse for GROHE is proof of our commitment, our partnership supports GROHE's vision to grow its footprint in the Middle East and Africa. ”
Sanjay Wanzare, Leader Supply Chain MENA, LIXIL EMENA, said: “We are delighted to see that GROHE’s new MENA Regional Distribution Center in Dubai is in operation in partnership with Kuehne+Nagel. As one of the most sustainable brands in the sanitary industry, we are aware of our responsibility in making a positive impact on climate change mitigation through our business operations, products and services. Our new MENA RDC will contribute to the region’s green ambitions and mission for sustainability.”
