In theory, aircraft could operate entirely on SAF; however, regulations currently limit SAF blends to a maximum of 50%. Due to limited availability and costs, the global average of SAF usage is below 1%.

Kuehne+Nagel collaborates with airlines to make the environmental benefits of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) available to its customers. This is achieved through a Book and Claim system, which allows customers to receive emissions reduction certificates for their air freight shipments. These reductions are fully traceable.
Importantly, the Book and Claim approach removes limitations on blending limits, as well as carriers, routings, or airports. This supports customers in meeting their climate goals and facilitates the scaling of SAF to help decarbonise aviation.
